GCSE Astronomy Tuition
Specialist one-to-one online GCSE Astronomy tuition with an Astrophysics graduate — from the night sky and the Solar System to stars, galaxies and cosmology.
Taught by Tomi
GCSE Astronomy is a wonderful first step into studying the Universe — the same questions about stars, galaxies and how big everything is that Tomi went on to explore in his Astrophysics degree. Lessons connect what your child can see in the night sky to the science that explains it.
Every lesson is one-to-one and tailored to the Edexcel specification, with clear explanations, past-paper practice and support for the observation work.
What we cover
- Planet Earth, the Moon and eclipses
- The Solar System and the celestial sphere
- Stars — their life cycles and how we measure them
- Galaxies, cosmology and the expanding Universe
- Telescopes and how astronomers observe the sky
- The naked-eye and aided observation work

Common questions
What is GCSE Astronomy?
It is the Edexcel GCSE covering the night sky, the Solar System, stars and cosmology — how we observe the Universe and what we have learned about it. Tomi holds a degree in Astrophysics, so your child learns it from someone who went on to study this field in depth at university.
Do you help with the observation work?
Yes. The course involves naked-eye and aided observations, and we talk through how to plan, record and write these up clearly so they meet what the exam board is looking for.
My child's school doesn't offer Astronomy — can they still take it?
Often yes, as a private candidate through a centre that accepts external entries. We can teach the full content one-to-one; you would just need to arrange an exam centre for the papers. Ask us in a taster session and we'll help you think it through.
How much maths is involved?
Some — distances, brightness, orbital periods and simple equations all come up. Because Tomi teaches Maths too, the calculations are taught alongside the astronomy rather than left to chance.
Do you prepare students for the exams?
Yes — alongside the content we work on exam technique, past papers and mark schemes, so your child can turn what they know into marks.
